The Indian Institute of Fashion Technology, Established in the year 2001, has been imparting professional training to the students. It has now evolved into a state of art, ultra modern and premier, multi disciplinary Training Institute in the core areas of Fashion and Apparel Technology and Management. IIFT till date has trained thousands of students in the area of Fashion & Apparel Technology including candidates sponsored by Govt. of India, Minister of Industries, SISI, Ministry of Defence, World bank aided projects. The Institute is located in Vijayanagar, which is in the heart of Bangalore city. IIFT has established 5 Branches in the Districts of Karnataka, namely Belgaum, Bijapur,Chamrajnagar, Hassan and KGF with the support of Govt. of Karnataka. IIFT is also conducting short term courses at the campus of associated colleges. The colleges are Maharani Lakshmi Ammani college for women-Malleshwaram, NMKRV college for women-Jayanagar and Vidhya Vardhaka Sanga College, Basaveshwaranagar.

The Apparel Industry is the second largest employment provider in India and has been a great foreign exchange revenue earner. Government of India, Ministry of Textiles, has projected a Manpower requirement of an additional 5 Lac professionals in the next 5 years. It is estimated that the domestic market will grow considerately. During the same time span but there is an acute shortage of highly trained professionals with skill sets required by the Apparel Industry today. Regional Office of the Textile Commissioner, Bangalore and IIFT is making efforts to bridge this gap and fulfill the demands of today and tomorrow’s Manpower requirements of the Apparel Industry.
IIFT also provides consultancy services for setting up of Garment Production Units, Fashion Designer Boutiques, revival of sick garment factories and for setting up of institutes of higher learning in the fashion and apparel industry.
Students are exposed to industrial visits at textile units, Garment Factories and Boutiques during their course of study who have established benchmark practices in terms of productivity and quality processes.
Students also have to undergo at least one month of implant training as part of the curriculum and have to present a project report based on their observations. This also enables the employers to ascertain the potential of students.

Prateek Apparels, Sai Lakshmi Industries, Mass Marketing, Glimpse Creations, Paxar India, Indian Designs, L T Karle, MBIL, LNJ Apparels etc.
  Separate Hostel/ PG accommodation can be organized for boys & girls subject to prior bookings & availability.
