Focused technical training

Learn advanced pattern making and garment construction online

This specialist course concentrates on the technical work behind a finished garment: taking measurements, developing patterns, planning fabric cutting, assembling garments, correcting fit and refining the final finish.

It is intentionally more focused than IIFT's broader 6-month online fashion design diploma, which also covers fashion design fundamentals and boutique management. Choose this course when advanced pattern drafting and construction are your main learning goal.

What you will learn

Build skills across pattern drafting, fitting and finishing

The curriculum progresses from construction foundations to complete garment projects.

01 · Measurement

Read measurements accurately

Work with body measurements, fabric behaviour and the construction details that affect fit.

02 · Drafting

Draft garment components

Develop sleeves, necklines, collars, yokes, plackets, pockets and a basic bodice block.

03 · Construction

Cut and construct garments

Translate paper patterns into fabric and assemble garments through a planned construction sequence.

04 · Finishing

Correct fit and finish

Review muslin and garment fit, make pattern corrections and improve finishing quality.
